At Perreault Nurseries, one of the most exciting signs of the season isn’t just the sunshine — it’s the arrival of our plants.

If you’ve ever wondered how all those beautiful annuals and vegetables start their journey, this is it.

From Tiny Cells to Thriving Plants

When our plants first arrive, they come in small individual “cells.” Each one holds a young plant with a developing root system — small but strong and full of potential. These are called plugs, and they’re the very beginning of what will become your herbs, hanging baskets, patio pots, and garden beds.

They may look tiny now, but that’s where the magic begins.

The Planting Process

Once the plugs arrive, our team gets to work:

  • We gently remove each plant from its cell tray.
  • We transplant them into a variety of pot sizes — from small 4-inch pots to larger patio containers and hanging baskets.
  • We water them carefully to help settle their roots into their new homes.
  • We fertilize them to give them the nutrients they need to grow strong and healthy.

Every plant is handled with care. It’s a hands-on process that takes time, patience, and a whole lot of love.

Growing With Care

After planting, the real transformation begins. In our greenhouses, we:

  • Monitor watering schedules
  • Adjust fertilizer as they grow
  • Check for healthy root development
  • Make sure they’re getting the right amount of light

Day by day, we watch them stretch taller, fill out, and begin to bloom. What started as a tiny plug becomes a full, vibrant plant ready for your home.

Why It Matters

When you shop local and buy plants that have been grown and cared for at a nursery, you’re getting something special. You’re getting weeks — sometimes months — of attention, experience, and dedication behind every pot.

There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching that growth happen right before our eyes. It reminds us why we love what we do.

From little cells to beautiful blooms — we’re growing something special for you.

We can’t wait for you to see them!
